Nohemi-168x300

Nohemi, as is the name she goes by, is our “flaca”, which is spanish for “skinny girl”.  Well, she may be skinny, but she absolutely does not lack in personality or energy.  Nohemi is a bright 14 year old girl who does really well in her studies, however, as with many of our kids she struggles with laziness and can be easily distracted. Nohemi also loves personal attention, never shying away from asking difficult questions and striking up a conversation.  The side of Nohemi we have seen grow the most since the start of the year is her leadership; she has really taken on more of a role as a leader amongst her peers and the younger kids.  This year she has even taken it upon herself to teach the younger kids choreographed dances to Christian songs which they have performed for Mother’s Day and at various churches.   Although Nohemi has yet to accept Christ as her savior, she no longer hesitates to lead prayer and often volunteers.

Nohemi is cared for by her mother who is rarely ever around, working long hours to make ends meet as best she can with her $60/month salary.  Nohemi’s father died when she was only 2 years old, so she and her 5 brothers and sisters have been raised in a single parent home.

We love Nohemi’s dynamic personality; she really brings an exciting flavor to the mix at the Project.  Nohemi is one of the few students whose desired future profession, a reporter/journalist, we could easily see as attainable with some dedication and encouragement.  Yet what an even more glorious day it would be to see this young girl with so much going for her cast all her being on the one who planned her days before she was but a breath.  Please join us in praying for Nohemi.
